Chris Gibbons with book editor Meredith Ebbin. The Bermuda 2009 Committee today officially launched its commemorative book, Bermuda 1609-2009: 400 Years - 400 Portraits. KML Editorial Director Chris Gibbons was one of the contributing editors for the book, edited by Meredith Ebbin, editor of the Bermuda Biographies website deisgned and maintained by KML. Chris contributed around 60 of the potted biographies as well as longer pieces on the Butterfield, Gosling, Gibbons (not related!), Gilbert and Williams families.
"It was a lot of work and research but fascinating to do," said Chris. "I certainly learned a lot more about Bermudian history along the way! I think the committee had the harder job selecting the 400 people in the first place. Meredith did an heroic job pulling together a book that I hope all Bermudians will be proud of. I was certainly proud to have been involved."
The book is available islandwide, priced $60 (hardback) and $20 (soft cover). You can read some excerpts from the book in this Bermuda Sun report.
